Grants for Professional Educators
Notice: Please be advised that the generous grants that Beta Nu has provided in the past may soon be restricted due to decreasing resources. No timeline is known; however Beta Nu wishes to make sure that prospective applicants know about this and do not depend on resources that Beta Nu may or may not provide in the future. No guarantees are provided to applicants and applicants should not automatically expect awards even if all application criteria have been met. |
In April 2016, Beta Nu Chapter provided professional educators with over $18,000.00 in grants for education and workshops. Projects included work towards Masters Degrees in Elementary Education, Math, Cross Cultures, and Counseling. Other educators are working on their National Boards and professional certification. Also receiving an April 2016 grant award was Eve Wallis (left) of Port Angeles. She is working on her Masters of Arts in Mathematics Education. On the right is Dodie French, presenter and president of Beta Nu Chapter.

May 14, 2014, Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International awarded a total of $7,980 in grants to 16 educators in Clallam County. Awards for professional development are offered to educators currently working in Clallam County schools, including classroom teachers, school nurses, librarians, counselors, and para professionals. Some areas of work include National Boards, Masters Degrees, “Pro Teach” certification, and professional workshops. Professional educator grants are awarded in the fall and again in the spring. Grants to future educators are awarded each summer.

On May 30, 2013, Beta Nu Chapter scholarship committee member, Marsha Omdal, presented grant checks totaling $2990 to Clallam County educators for work on a wide range of professional development activities such as National Board Certification, work on advanced degrees, and attending workshops. Beta Nu Chapter is part of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional honor society whose mission is to promote professional growth and excellence in education.

On December 19, 2012, Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma once again presented grants to six professional educators in Clallam County. The purpose of these grants is to assist educators continue their professional development in a variety of ways. Examples include working on ProTeach Certifcation, National Board Certification and attending specific workshops to improve teaching skills. A total of $2,724.00 was distributed to the following six recipients: Krista Winn, Bettina Hoesel, Carla Powell, Krista Winn, Casey Lewis, and NatHalie Maynock (not pictured).
